Marketing Manager - #2166985

An established and growing environmental and sustainability consultancy is looking to appoint a Digital Marketing Manager to take ownership of its marketing activity and help shape the next stage of its growth.The business is an SME and has built a strong client base largely through repeat business, referrals and its reputation within the market. They are looking to bring Marketing in-house and appoint someone who can develop and lead a more structured marketing approach.

This is a newly created position with significant autonomy. Reporting directly to the board, you will be given the opportunity to assess the current marketing activity, identify where improvements can be made and develop a clear plan for how marketing can support the wider commercial objectives of the business.

Initially, there will be a strong focus on digital lead generation, alongside improving the company's website and developing its approach across SEO, PPC, content, social media and wider brand activity.

You won't be expected to be a technical expert in technical consultancy. The business has experienced divisional heads and subject matter experts who will provide the technical knowledge, insight and content required. Your role will be to translate that expertise into effective B2B marketing activity.

Key responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the overall marketing approach and develop a clear marketing plan.
• Review existing marketing activity and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop digital campaigns focused on generating relevant B2B enquiries.
• Improve and optimise the company's website and digital presence.
• Manage and develop SEO and PPC activity.
• Build a more consistent approach to content and thought leadership.
• Develop the company's use of social media and wider digital channels.
• Identify opportunities to increase brand awareness and market presence.
• Work closely with divisional heads to understand their markets, customers and commercial priorities.
• Manage external agencies and suppliers where appropriate.
• Establish appropriate measures to understand marketing performance and return on investment.

About you:
The business is deliberately keeping an open mind around the exact background and level of the person appointed. They are particularly interested in speaking with people who have:

• Strong B2B marketing experience.
• Broad digital marketing knowledge rather than experience limited to one channel.
• Experience across areas such as SEO, PPC, websites, content and social media.
• A commercial approach to marketing with an understanding of lead generation.
• The ability to develop strategy while remaining comfortable with hands-on delivery.
• Experience working autonomously and taking ownership of marketing activity.
• Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• The ability to turn complex or technical information into effective marketing content.

Experience within professional services, consultancy or another technical B2B environment would be useful but isn't essential.
