We're looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join a growing data team and take ownership of a key data integration project.

Working within a Microsoft-centric environment, you'll lead the technical onboarding of a new business-critical data source, ensuring the right architecture, processes, and data pipelines are in place to support reporting and analytics across the organisation.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical delivery with stakeholder engagement and team leadership.

The Role

You'll be responsible for defining and delivering the engineering approach for a new data source, working closely with Analytics, Power BI and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality, scalable data is available for reporting and decision-making.

You'll act as the engineering lead on the project, providing technical direction while remaining hands-on with pipeline development, integration, and data platform design.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines
  • Provide technical leadership across Data Engineering activities
  • Work closely with Analytics and Power BI teams to ensure data is fit for reporting requirements
  • Establish best practices for data ingestion, transformation and governance
  • Support and mentor Data Engineers within the team
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Drive adoption of modern Microsoft data platform technologies

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in a Lead or Senior Data Engineering role
  • Expertise in Microsoft Azure data services
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and modern data architecture
  • Experience integrating complex source systems and third-party platforms
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Experience designing and building cloud-based data platforms
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Previous experience leading projects and providing technical direction to engineering teams

If you're an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys ownership, leadership and solving complex data challenges, we'd love to hear from you.
