At White Rose Education, we're passionate about helping teachers teach and children learn. Our resources, curriculum materials and professional development support schools across the UK and beyond, helping to build confidence, deepen understanding and improve outcomes for children.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Primary Mathematics Specialist to join our established Primary Mathematics team and play an important role in the continued development of our curriculum, assessment materials and educational resources.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced primary teacher with a strong understanding of mathematics to use their classroom expertise in a different way, helping to shape high-quality teaching and learning materials that make a real difference to teachers and pupils.

About The Role

As a Primary Mathematics Specialist, you'll work collaboratively with colleagues across our Education team to develop, review and refine high-quality mathematics resources, ensuring they are mathematically accurate, pedagogically sound and accessible to teachers and learners.

You'll play an important role in supporting our ongoing curriculum and assessment review, contributing your expertise to the development of materials that reflect effective teaching practice and support progression in primary mathematics.

Alongside curriculum and resource development, you'll also have opportunities to contribute to professional development and engagement with schools, sharing your knowledge and supporting teachers to deliver high-quality mathematics education.

This is a varied and rewarding role where your classroom experience, creativity and subject knowledge will help shape resources used by schools every day.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing, reviewing and improving high-quality primary mathematics teaching resources, curriculum materials and assessments
  • Contributing to our curriculum and assessment review, ensuring materials reflect effective pedagogy, mathematical accuracy and clear progression
  • Applying your understanding of how children learn mathematics, including common misconceptions and approaches to developing conceptual understanding
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to evaluate existing resources, identify opportunities for improvement and develop new materials
  • Using educational research, classroom experience and feedback from schools to inform curriculum and resource development
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of professional development for teachers and school leaders
  • Communicating mathematical ideas clearly and confidently to a range of audiences
  • Supporting the wider Primary Maths team with curriculum priorities, quality assurance and ongoing educational projects
  • Managing allocated work effectively, meeting agreed deadlines and maintaining consistently high standards

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who combines excellent primary mathematics teaching experience with strong subject knowledge, creativity and a genuine enthusiasm for improving mathematics education.

To be successful, you'll need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a completed Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction and a degree-level qualification
  • A strong track record of effective primary mathematics teaching
  • Secure knowledge of the primary mathematics curriculum, assessment approaches and evidence-informed teaching practice
  • A sound understanding of mathematical progression across primary year groups and key stages
  • The ability to develop clear, accurate and engaging mathematics teaching resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • A collaborative approach, with a willingness to share ideas, respond constructively to feedback and continually improve your work

It would also be great if you have:

  • Experience of leading mathematics within a primary school or contributing to whole-school curriculum development
  • Experience of delivering professional development, coaching or mentoring colleagues
  • Experience of developing curriculum materials or resources for use beyond your own classroom
  • Experience of working across different primary year groups or key stages

Previous experience of working for an educational publisher or delivering professional development externally is not essential. We're particularly interested in your teaching expertise, your understanding of primary mathematics and your ability to translate that knowledge into effective resources.

Why join White Rose Education?

At White Rose Education, you'll have the opportunity to use your teaching experience to influence mathematics education on a much wider scale.

You'll be joining a knowledgeable and collaborative team of education specialists who share a commitment to creating high-quality, research-informed resources that genuinely support teachers and children.

This is an opportunity to take your career in a new direction while remaining closely connected to the subject you're passionate about.

You'll be able to contribute your own ideas, develop new skills and play a meaningful part in shaping the future of our primary mathematics offer.

Location and working arrangements

This is a permanent, full-time, all-year-round position, working 37 hours per week.

The role is based at our Halifax office (HX2), with regular travel to our Leeds office (LS11).
