Communicate Recruitment Solutions

Communicate Recruitment Solutions is delighted to be partnering with a well-established, growing UK group on the appointment of a Group Tax Specialist, based near to Leeds. This is a broad, hands-on role covering all taxes across the group. It would suit someone who enjoys variety and wants real ownership of the tax function.

You will join a supportive finance team and report directly to the Head of Tax. You will be the go-to person for tax across the business, with plenty of exposure to senior stakeholders and real scope to shape how tax is managed as the group continues to grow.

The role

  • Manage UK corporation tax compliance for all group entities, including computations, returns, group relief and quarterly instalment payments, working alongside external advisers where needed
  • Own the group’s VAT compliance, including quarterly returns, partial exemption, MTD requirements and VAT group arrangements
  • Prepare tax accounting entries and disclosures for the statutory and group accounts, including current and deferred tax
  • Support Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) compliance and maintain a robust tax control framework
  • Oversee employment taxes, including PAYE, P11Ds, PSAs and employment-related securities reporting
  • Look after the group’s other tax obligations as they arise, such as SDLT, CIS, customs duties, and R&D or capital allowances claims
  • Maintain transfer pricing documentation and intra-group arrangements
  • Give practical, commercial tax advice to the wider business on transactions, contracts, restructuring and new initiatives
  • Keep track of legislative changes and assess how they affect the group
  • Manage relationships with HMRC and external advisers

About you

  • ACA, ACCA, CTA or ATT qualified, or qualified by experience, ideally with a mix of practice and in-house experience
  • Broad technical knowledge across direct and indirect taxes. You will be comfortable working as a generalist rather than in a narrow specialism
  • Confident with tax accounting and preparing tax notes for financial statements
  • A proactive, organised approach, with the ability to manage several deadlines at once
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain tax clearly to non-tax colleagues
  • Keen to take ownership and build processes, not just follow them
