Contract Senior WordPress Consultant

£400 per day - Outside IR35

6 Months Initial Term

Remote First (Leeds 1 Day Per Week)

I'm currently partnered with an AI-native consultancy delivering a major digital transformation programme for a brilliant end client.

A key workstream within the programme focuses on consolidating multiple existing websites into a single WordPress platform, creating a more streamlined user experience while simplifying content management and publishing processes across the organisation.

They're looking for an experienced Senior WordPress Technical Consultant to join the project and play a leading role in shaping the technical approach, architecture and delivery of the new platform.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading the technical discovery and design of a large-scale WordPress consolidation programme
• Assessing existing websites, content structures, integrations and publishing workflows
• Designing scalable, secure and maintainable WordPress solutions
• Building custom themes, plugins and reusable components
• Planning and executing content and media migrations
• Working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical recommendations
• Developing integrations with third-party systems and services
• Supporting CI/CD, hosting, deployment and platform optimisation
• Ensuring best practice across security, performance, testing and maintainability

What We're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience working with WordPress at an enterprise level
• Expertise in custom theme and plugin development
• Strong PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS skills
• Experience delivering website consolidation or migration projects
• Experience with content modelling, Gutenberg blocks and reusable publishing components
• Knowledge of WordPress performance optimisation, security and hosting environments
• Comfortable working directly with clients and stakeholders in a consultative capacity
• Ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges and provide pragmatic solutions
• AI Assisted development tools are a part of your day to day

Contract Details

• £400 per day
• Outside IR35
• Initial 6-month contract
• Strong likelihood of extension
• Remote-first engagement
• Expected travel to Leeds approximately once per week
