Working alongside engineers, designers and project delivery teams, you will ensure environmental requirements are translated into practical, proportionate and deliverable solutions.

This role combines technical environmental knowledge with practical project experience, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving. You will help teams identify environmental risks early, influence design decisions and integrate effective mitigation into project delivery.

About the Client
Our client is an award-winning environmental and engineering consultancy specialising in environmental management, engineering and risk management.

Independently and employee-owned, our client places a strong emphasis on long-term decision-making, sustainability, innovation and professional development. Its work supports clients and communities in building resilience to climate change, flooding and environmental risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate environmental requirements into infrastructure design and construction.
  • Identify environmental risks, constraints and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Advise engineers, designers and project teams on practical environmental solutions.
  • Influence design decisions to incorporate effective mitigation from the outset.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary environmental input and align technical recommendations.
  • Balance environmental priorities with cost, programme and buildability considerations.
  • Translate technical information into clear, actionable advice.
  • Engage with stakeholders and challenge proposals constructively where necessary.
  • Support environmental assessments, management approaches and regulatory compliance.
  • Help ensure environmental commitments are implemented effectively on site.
  • What Our Client is Looking For
  • Our client is seeking a proactive environmental professional with experience in infrastructure, engineering, environmental consultancy or a related discipline.

You will bring:

  • The ability to translate technical information into practical recommendations.
  • Confidence engaging with engineers, designers, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to identify challenges, influence decisions and develop workable solutions.
  • A practical approach to managing environmental risks and project constraints.
  • Experience in environmental and ecological risk assessment, environmental management, compliance, monitoring or auditing would be advantageous.

Qualifications
Our client is open to different academic and professional backgrounds, placing greater emphasis on practical experience and the ability to deliver environmental outcomes.

Candidates should ideally hold, or be working towards, professional membership or accreditation with ISEP, preferably Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), or another relevant professional body.

Support is available for professional development and chartership where appropriate.

What Our Client Offers

  • Competitive salary.
  • Permanent, full-time employment.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued learning.
  • Support towards relevant professional qualifications and chartership.
  • A dedicated professional development budget.
  • Financial, health and wellbeing benefits.
  • Cycle to Work and electric vehicle salary sacrifice schemes, where applicable.
  • A supportive working environment that values work-life balance.
  • Opportunities to contribute to sustainability and climate resilience initiatives.

Eligibility

  • Relevant experience in environmental, infrastructure, engineering or related project environments.
  • Strong understanding of environmental principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Practical experience applying environmental considerations to project design or delivery.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Professional membership or accreditation, or a commitment to working towards it, is desirable.
  • Part-time and flexible working arrangements may be considered. Applications are welcomed from candidates returning to work after a career break or looking to move into the sector from another industry.
