Employment Senior Associate or Legal Director - #2177039
Hays
Your new company
Our client is a highly regarded national law firm with an established employment practice and a strong presence across the UK. The firm continues to invest in its employment offering and is now looking to recruit an experienced Employment Senior Associate / Legal Director into either its Leeds or Newcastle office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior employment lawyer looking for high-quality work, significant client responsibility and the opportunity to play an active role within a collaborative and supportive team.
Your new role
You will join an established employment team advising a broad client base, including businesses, owners and managers, HR professionals, in-house legal teams, public and private sector organisations, as well as senior employees and executives.
The role offers a genuinely broad employment caseload covering contentious, advisory and transactional employment matters, including:
- Employment Tribunal litigation, including discrimination and whistle-blowing claims
- Disciplinary, grievance and wider employee relations matters
- Dismissals, redundancy exercises and restructuring
- Drafting employment contracts and other employment documentation
- Corporate support and transactional employment work
- TUPE advice
- Workplace and employee investigations
- General strategic employment advice
At this level, you will have significant responsibility for managing your own matters and client relationships, alongside opportunities to supervise and support junior solicitors, trainees and paralegals.
You will also work closely with colleagues across other departments and contribute to the team's wider business development activities.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified solicitor or equivalent with significant experience in employment law and the ability to operate at Senior Associate or Legal Director level.
You should have:
- Strong experience across contentious and non-contentious employment law
- Experience advising on the employment aspects of corporate transactions
- A good understanding of TUPE
- Experience handling Employment Tribunal claims
- The ability to independently manage a varied caseload and provide commercially focused advice
- Excellent client relationship and communication skills
- The ability to supervise and support more junior members of the team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- An interest in business development and building your profile within the employment market
What you'll get in return
You will have the opportunity to join an established national employment practice offering a broad and varied workload, significant client contact and scope to take on increased responsibility.
The role offers exposure to contentious, advisory and transactional employment matters rather than being restricted to one particular area, alongside opportunities to supervise junior lawyers, develop client relationships and contribute to the continued development of the practice.
The position can be based in Leeds or Newcastle and would suit an experienced employment lawyer looking for their next step at Senior Associate or Legal Director level.
