Data Engineer - #2179967

About the role

We’re looking for a mid to senior Data Engineer to work at SFIA Level 4 (Enable). You’ll work autonomously under general direction, take responsibility for complex technical work across a range of contexts, and guide and support others around you. You’ll design and maintain the automated pipelines that move and transform our data, and you’ll be the person who makes sure that data is accurate, reliable and ready to use.

Key responsibilities

• Use SQL to extract, transform and analyse data
• Design, build and maintain automated ETL and ELT processes
• Develop in Python and notebook-based environments
• Read, understand and troubleshoot API responses and data in JSON, CSV and Excel formats
• Carry out data validation and quality checks, and resolve issues at the root cause
• Design and maintain databases
• Plan and delegate work, influence team objectives and support colleagues’ development

What we’re looking for

Essential

• Active SC clearance
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation and analysis
• Experience with Python and notebook-based development
• Ability to read, understand and troubleshoot API responses and data (JSON, CSV, Excel)
• Experience designing and maintaining automated ETL and ELT processes
• Strong data validation, data quality and troubleshooting skills
• Database design experience
• Based within commutable distance of Leeds

Desirable

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric Pipelines and Lakehouses
• Government or public sector experience within the last 12 months

What we offer

• Salary of £60,000 to £65,000, depending on experience
