REAP RECRUITMENT LTD

Date: 2 hours ago
City: Leeds
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 / year
Contract type: Full time
REAP RECRUITMENT LTD
  • Leeds
  • Hybrid - minimum 2 days per week in the office
  • £30,000 to £35,000

About the Opportunity

Reap Recruitment is working with an established residential property management company seeking a Service Charge Accountant to join its Leeds-based accounts team.

This is a newly created opportunity to develop specialist expertise in the financial onboarding of residential developments. Rather than managing an established portfolio of service charge accounts, you'll take responsibility for reviewing financial information, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate accounting records are in place as new developments join the business.

This opportunity would suit someone with service charge accounting experience who is looking for a fresh challenge or keen to specialise in the financial onboarding and mobilisation of residential developments.

Why This Role?

  • Hybrid working available once established in the role, with a minimum of two days per week in the office
  • 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 10% of annual salary
  • Profit Share: Opportunity to participate in an employee profit-sharing scheme, subject to eligibility
  • Healthcare & Wellbeing: Access to healthcare and dental benefits, subject to scheme terms
  • Pension & Protection: Salary-sacrifice pension scheme and death-in-service cover
  • Professional Development: Study support towards relevant qualifications
  • Additional Benefits: Employee discount scheme
  • Career Opportunity: Take ownership of a specialist accounting function within an established property management business

What You'll Do

  • Review and reconcile financial information received when residential developments transfer into management
  • Verify opening balances, client funds, reserve funds and outstanding financial transactions
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve missing or incomplete financial information
  • Set up the financial framework for incoming developments, including service charge allocations and opening account information
  • Coordinate the transfer of financial records onto the property management system
  • Support service charge budgets and financial reporting during the onboarding process
  • Work with outgoing managing agents, internal colleagues and external parties to resolve financial queries
  • Assist with the transfer and setup of utility accounts, liaising with relevant suppliers and service providers to ensure continuity as developments change management
  • Keep comprehensive supporting documentation throughout the transfer process and ensure a smooth transition to the ongoing accounts team
  • Support NLA (No Longer Acting) processes, including financial reconciliations and handovers when developments transfer to alternative managing agents

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in residential service charge accounting, client accounting or a closely related property finance role
  • A sound understanding of service charge accounting and client money principles
  • Strong reconciliation skills and confidence investigating financial discrepancies
  • Good Excel skills and experience using accounting or property management systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving abilities
  • Confidence communicating with colleagues and external parties
  • AAT qualification or equivalent relevant accounting experience
  • Previous experience of property onboarding, financial mobilisation or financial data migration would be advantageous but is not essential

Location & Working Arrangements

This is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, based in Leeds.

Hybrid working is available once established in the role, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
