Job Introduction

We're looking for a creative, strategic and commercially minded Global Social Media Consultant to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract and help shape the future of our global organic social media presence.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact. We've developed an ambitious organic social media strategy for 2027 and are looking for an experienced social media professional to bring fresh thinking, strategic insight and energy to its delivery.

Working as part of our Brand team, you'll help us unlock the full potential of organic social media to increase brand awareness, strengthen audience engagement, grow our communities and support business growth. You'll build on our established channels while helping us strengthen our presence on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, ensuring we engage existing audiences more effectively and connect with new audiences in relevant and compelling ways.

We're looking for someone who can take an existing strategy and elevate it. You'll bring your own ideas, challenge convention, identify new opportunities and help us maximise the impact of our organic social media activity. This is an opportunity to leave your mark on a developing global social media function and play a key role in shaping its future direction.

You'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and be comfortable planning and creating content, analysing performance and working closely with our in-house creative team to produce social content that stands out and delivers results.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and evolution of our global organic social media strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to grow audience reach, engagement and advocacy across existing and developing channels.
  • Develop channel-specific approaches that maximise the impact of platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Plan and create engaging, insight-led organic content that brings our brand, colleagues and member stories to life.
  • Partner with our in-house creative team to develop innovative and distinctive content that supports brand and business objectives.
  • Manage the global social media content calendar and ensure activity is aligned to wider brand and business priorities.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on channel performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Stay ahead of platform developments, content trends and industry best practice to ensure our social media activity remains relevant and effective.
  • Act as the social media subject matter expert, influencing stakeholders across the business and providing strategic guidance on how organic social media can support brand and commercial objectives.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience developing and delivering successful organic social media strategies.
  • Strong understanding of audience growth, engagement and community building across social platforms.
  • Experience planning, creating and delivering content that drives measurable results.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data and insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and influencing at all levels of an organisation.
  • A creative mindset, strategic outlook and passion for social media innovation.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the confidence to challenge thinking, identify opportunities and bring new ideas to the table.

This is a unique opportunity to take an ambitious social media strategy and make it your own. You'll have the freedom to influence direction, test new approaches, grow audiences, and help unlock the full potential of organic social media within a global organisation.

About The Company

The Medical Protection Society Ltd (MPS) is the world’s leading protection organisation for Doctors, Dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of almost 300,000 members around the world.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning member’s subscriptions are either invested into bettering the organisation, colleagues and products, or kept safe should members require support for complaints or claims arising from professional practice.

Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place. We also actively campaign for regulatory and legal reforms that benefit members and the wider healthcare professions.

To do this, we need colleagues who are trusted and supported to deliver their best work, whether that be through leadership development, fully funded training courses or peer-to-peer support. We want colleagues to feel empowered to deliver positive change, display ambition to push themselves and be determined when faced with a challenge, whilst ensuring members best interests are at the core.
