GCP Data Engineering Lead - #2188378

We are looking for an experienced GCP Data Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership and deliver secure, scalable and resilient data capabilities. You will work within multi-functional product engineering teams, setting engineering standards and building high-performing batch and real-time data solutions on Google Cloud.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, resilient and low-latency data platforms on GCP.
• Build and optimise batch and streaming data pipelines using Google Cloud data services.
• Define technical strategy, engineering standards and best practices for data integrity, security and compliance.
• Partner with engineering leaders and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust cloud solutions.
• Improve reliability and operational efficiency through automation, monitoring and the removal of recurring issues.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, code oversight and leadership across multi-functional engineering teams.

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience designing, building and supporting distributed systems and large-scale data processing platforms in production.
• Deep hands-on expertise with GCP data services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub and Cloud Composer.
• Proven experience building batch and real-time streaming pipelines on Google Cloud.
• Strong coding and scripting skills in Python, SQL and one or more of Java, Scala or Go.
• Experience with data warehouses, data lakes, operational data stores and distributed frameworks such as Spark, Flink, Beam or Hadoop.
• Knowledge of Kafka or comparable real-time streaming technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools such as Jenkins, GitHub and Spinnaker.
• Good knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, cloud networking, storage and resource provisioning.
• Strong communication, stakeholder-management and technical leadership skills.

Desirable

• Google Cloud certification such as Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Developer or Professional Data Engineer.
• Apache Kafka certification, including Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka.
