FP&A Manager | North West Leeds | Up to £65,000 | Permanent

Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 from home.

I'm recruiting an FP&A Manager for a business with its central finance team based in North West Leeds. It'll suit someone who enjoys time with the operational managers as much as building the numbers.

The business trades from several locations, each reporting monthly and rolled up by region and group. This role sits at the centre of that. It owns the plan and makes sure the operational managers understand what the numbers are telling them.

The role

• Lead the annual budget, the financial models and the reforecasts through the year

• Track forecast accuracy each month and flag early when the plan needs to move

• Analyse performance by location, region and group: revenue, gross margin, operating costs and profit

• Write the commentary behind every material monthly variance, with the actions agreed

• Run the monthly flash report on sales, margin and staff costs, and talk it through in the management meetings

• Work closely with local and regional managers and the finance leadership, helping them see the financial effect of their decisions

• Look for ways to improve profit, cash and the balance sheet

• Make sure data issues have an owner and get fixed

The person

• FP&A, commercial finance or finance business partnering experience

• Strong with numbers and comfortable building and running models

• Good with people outside finance, and happy to give a straight view when the numbers call for it

• Hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 from home

A lot of this job is spent with operational managers, explaining the numbers and agreeing what happens next. If you'd rather stay behind the model and hand the pack over, it probably isn't the one. It's 3 days a week in the office, and the band tops out at £65,000.
