In House - VAT Compliance Manager

Leeds | Hybrid - 2 days in the office

HW Finance is partnering with a large, international organisation to appoint a VAT Compliance Manager into its established tax function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a VAT specialist looking to join a complex, international environment, taking ownership of VAT compliance and accounting while gaining exposure to process improvement, automation and multiple jurisdictions.

Working alongside senior tax colleagues and stakeholders across Finance, Tax, Accounting and Treasury, you will play an important role in delivering an accurate and efficient VAT compliance service.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and submitting VAT returns and wider indirect tax filings
• Taking ownership of VAT accounting, including VAT-to-GL reconciliations, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensuring accurate and timely reporting across the VAT compliance cycle
• Maintaining and improving VAT processes and associated controls
• Supporting evolving digital reporting requirements
• Reviewing invoices from a VAT perspective
• Helping drive automation and systems improvements across VAT processes
• Analysing tax data and identifying potential accuracy, compliance and control issues
• Working with stakeholders across Tax, Finance and the wider organisation
• Supporting the onboarding of new entities into the VAT compliance process, with potential exposure to non-UK jurisdictions

About You:

• Strong experience of VAT return preparation and filing
• Experience working within a large or complex organisation
• The ability to identify risks and weaknesses within VAT processes and reconciliations
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across different functions and locations
• An interest in technology, automation and improving how VAT compliance is delivered
• A professional accountancy or tax qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CTA would be beneficial, although part-qualified candidates will also be considered
