Five Rivers Child Care Ltd
Job Opportunity: Children Support Worker

We are recruiting for our residential children’s homes in Leeds. We are a social enterprise providing caring, bespoke residential homes for young people aged 7-18 who have had a difficult start in life. Join a team of compassionate, child-focused adults dedicated to giving our children the best experiences. You will be supported by a larger team including Clinical and Education colleagues, following a trauma-informed therapeutic model to help transform lives.

No specific experience required: We will train, teach, and guide you to succeed. We seek individuals who are effective, patient, and resilient, especially during challenging times.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, swimming, arts and crafts, beach trips, forest walks, movie nights, and camping.

  • Being a role model, guiding children to make good choices.

  • Assisting with cleaning, cooking, home maintenance, and learning new skills like meal planning, first aid, health & safety, and gardening.

  • Developing your career through the Level 4 apprenticeship in residential childcare.

  • Opportunities for future career development.

Part of the role involves some overnight stays, typically 2-3 sleep-ins per week. The salary includes compensation for about 8 sleep-ins per month, with an additional £50 per night for each sleep-in, totaling approximately £4,800 annually if you complete eight sleep-ins monthly.

You should have good communication skills (written, verbal, IT), enjoy fun and play, and understand their importance for children.

We support your achievement of the Level 4 Qualification. A full driving license and being over 19 are preferred.

Why join Five Rivers?

As a social enterprise, our homes are run by kind, compassionate, and resilient individuals who provide children with a sense of security and positive role models. Their deep connections help turn children’s lives around and can leave a lasting impact.

Benefits include:

  • 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays) plus a holiday purchase scheme

  • 3-week rolling rota planned 6 weeks in advance

  • £50 per sleep-in payment

  • Simplyhealth medical cash-back plan

  • Ongoing training and support, including paying for your Level 4 Diploma

  • Employee support programs (24/7 GP, counselling)

  • Long service awards

  • Enhanced maternity leave for long-standing employees

  • Family meals on shift

  • Blue Light card

  • Referral bonuses for friends and foster carers

Hours:

Approximately 39 hours per week for full-time roles.

Interested? Contact our recruitment team today at 01722 435750 (option 2) or email ***********@five-rivers.org to make a difference in children’s lives.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Successful candidates will undergo child protection screening, including references and a DBS check (cost covered by us).

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications regardless of race, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age.

Salary: £24,843 to £27,429 p.a. DOE plus sleep-in payments.
