Senior Credit Risk Analyst - Commercial Lending Credit Risk

The Commercial Credit Risk team is an integral part of YBS's Conduct and Credit Risk function. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with our colleagues in teams across the business, including the customer facing teams in Commercial Lending including Business Development, Lending, Portfolio management and propositions to ensure we're identifying, mitigating and managing credit, conduct and operational risks. This allows us to support expansion of our Commercial Lending business in a sustainable and responsible manner, whilst providing good outcomes for customers.


About the Role


As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst you'll be a key member of the Commercial Credit Risk team, leveraging your credit risk expertise to help YBS deliver its objectives. You will get the chance to be involved in a range of interesting projects and initiatives. Some of the areas you could be responsible for:


  • Supporting the Group's growth aspirations whilst ensuring lending is responsible. Entering new market segments and defining lending criteria to meet changing customer needs, requires a clear understanding of the associated credit risks. You will work with other areas of the business to own and drive change to support business growth whilst ensuring credit risks are managed.
  • Ensuring our key credit risk controls such as lending policy, affordability models, slotting models are operating effectively. You'll review and challenge our approaches, ensuring these controls remain robust and appropriate.
  • Analyse commercial investment and BTL market data and customer data to identify and assess key trends and risks, and use the insight to drive strategic responses which balance YBS growth ambition for Commercial Lending with robust risk management.
  • Supporting the developing the credit risk capabilities within Commercial Lending which will be across diverse range of areas such as lending policy , affordability, stress testing, loss forecasting, sectoral analysis, portfolio monitoring and delinquency. You will play a critical part in ensuring the commercial lending growth is sustainable and delivering good outcomes for the Society and customers.
  • Supporting on credit risk aspects of new propositional development including lending in specialist SME sectors.
  • Ensuring high quality, insightful credit risk analytics are produced and can be used to inform strategic decision-making.

About You
  • Proven experience in Credit Risk or other similar analytically based roles.
  • Expert skills in data manipulation and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of the Commercial Investment, Buy to Let or SME mortgage market would be beneficial.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem solving skill with the ability to identify trends or areas of concern within data.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and always looking for ways we can improve our processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to present findings and influence at a senior level
