Leeds Sexual Health is a busy and dynamic service offering a wide range of services such as STI testing & treatments, contraception advice & provision, pregnancy testing and support, care after sexual assault, vaccinations, and care for vulnerable and high-risk groups. Our service users attend with various sexual health and contraceptive needs, requiring care, comprehensive assessment, and treatment by our multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will hold, or be working towards, qualifications in sexual health and contraception such as DFSRH diploma and STI intermediate with additional skills in LoC SDI implant removal, fits, refits, non-medical prescribing, and microscopy.
Leeds Sexual Health operates from clinics six days a week, Monday to Saturday, between 8 am and 8 pm, with opportunities to support outreach events outside of regular hours. You will need to be flexible and able to cover clinics across Leeds. Our main hub is based at Beeston Hill Health Centre, with spoke sites at Armley, Chapeltown, City Centre, Seacroft, and other outreach sites across Leeds.
The post holder must be able to travel independently between sites during shifts to cover clinics and provide care to vulnerable and hard-to-reach service users. We also have dedicated clinics for under-18 young persons across the city, where you will assess safeguarding risks and support care needs.
Main duties of the job
Leeds Sexual Health is an integrated service partnering with Leeds Teaching Hospitals, GP Confederation, and Central Forum.
The role involves supporting colleagues, junior staff, nursing, and medical trainees. You will also provide support as a nurse coordinator in the smooth running of clinics and triage of emergency and urgent care cases on the day.
The post-holder is responsible for delivering high standards of clinical nursing expertise to service users in SRH/GUM across Leeds, providing information, advice, and counseling to help patients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections understand and manage their conditions.
