Following its recent acquisition by SLR, Wardell Armstrong now forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy working on projects across the world from over 100 offices.


Overview of team / business area .


Having recently merged with SLR Consulting, you will be joining Wardell Armstrong at an exciting time. We are currently coming together with approximately one hundred Landscape Architects from within SLRs multi-disciplinary, environmental and sustainability consultancy, which works on leading projects across the globe.


As part of a multi-disciplinary firm, there will also be opportunities to collaborate on projects with a wide range of specialists from within our environment, planning, engineering and sustainability teams.


The role


In response to a growing portfolio of exciting projects we are seeking an experienced, Chartered, Senior Landscape Architect with at least 5 years of UK Landscape Architecture work experience, to join our creative landscape design team in Leeds. Key tasks will involve being the main client and design team contact across a range of exciting projects including education, masterplanning, healthcare, sport and leisure, residential, public realm and some fantastic community initiative projects. You will be responsible for the day to day running of your own projects with the support of an experienced team. This opportunity will give the successful candidate scope to thrive and take genuine ownership of the projects, whilst being a key part within a small and close-knit creative design team.


About you



  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (minimum 2 years post chartership experience)

  • Experience leading Landscape design projects across a range of sectors and scales

  • Project management responsibilities including commercials, time, resourcing, and contracts

  • Experience of LVIA and assessment work

  • Delegating tasks to a support team

  • Ability to manage and mentor more junior members of the team

  • A creative, problem-solving approach to design

  • Technically competent throughout the design process from briefing to overseeing works on site

  • Excellent computer graphic capabilities and hand drawing skill

  • Fully proficient in the use AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite to a high standard (REVIT desirable but not essential)

  • Understanding and ideally experience of SuDS, BNG and masterplanning

  • A high standard of written English and excellent presentation skills

  • Ability to take initiative in response to direction or instruction

  • Good design flair and ability to develop designs from concept through to detailed design and specification

  • Full UK driving license
