Sweet Squared

Position: Social & PR Manager

Type: Permanent

Reporting to: Chief Marketing Officer

Direct Reports: Yes

Starting salary: £35,000

Location: This is an office based role in Leeds, LS14

Since 2006, Sweet Squared has been marketing and distributing best-in-class hair and beauty products and services to professionals across the UK and Ireland — always “with love & respect.”

Following continued growth and an expanding brand portfolio, we are now looking for an experienced and strategic Social & PR Manager to lead and evolve our multi-brand digital presence.

This is a senior role for someone who not only delivers outstanding social and PR content but who also understands how to shape and execute a broader vision. You will be responsible for driving the overall social media and PR strategy across all brands, while also managing your own accounts day-to-day. We’re seeking a confident communicator with a proven track record in digital storytelling, campaign planning, and brand positioning — someone who can think creatively and act commercially.

You’ll also play a key role in guiding tone of voice, creative output, influencer strategy, and media relations. In addition, you will have line management responsibility for one team member, providing day-to-day support, development, and performance guidance.

Based in Leeds, with occasional travel to London and industry events, this role requires an organised self-starter who can deliver both strategic insight and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement the overarching PR and social media strategy across all Sweet Squared brands

  • Line manage, support, and develop junior members of the PR and social team — providing clear direction, regular feedback, and fostering best practice across all accounts

  • Manage and grow your own portfolio of social media accounts, ensuring high-quality, consistent content

  • Own relationships with media, influencers, and partners, building strong industry networks

  • Write and oversee press releases, media pitches, and influencer briefs

  • Plan, manage, and evaluate integrated campaigns around product launches and key brand moments

  • Attend events, activations, and press days to represent and amplify our brands

  • Monitor social and industry trends to proactively inform content and campaign strategy

  • Work closely with brand managers, education, and sales teams to align messaging and priorities

  • Use insights and data to optimise performance and regularly report on key metrics and ROI

  • Champion the use of AI tools and content automation to increase efficiency and creativity across teams

  • Support, mentor, and inspire more junior members of the PR/social team, ensuring best practice across accounts

What We’re Looking For

  • A passionate, experienced social and PR professional with strategic vision

  • Minimum 4+ years experience in a social media and/or PR management role

  • Line management experience

  • Strong understanding of platform-specific content (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.)

  • Exceptional copywriting, content creation, and storytelling skills

  • Demonstrated success in building brand presence and media/influencer relationships

  • Comfortable managing multiple brands and switching between different tones and styles

  • Knowledge of (and genuine love for) the professional hair and beauty industry

  • A proactive mindset — comfortable working autonomously and leading initiatives

  • A team player who collaborates with positivity, professionalism, and integrity

What we can offer you

  • 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays (increasing to 33 days plus BH with length of service)

  • Private healthcare, EAP & Personal accident insurance

  • Company Sick pay scheme and 24/7 access to a GP

  • Square day - an additional paid day off on your start date anniversary

  • 5% employer pension contribution

  • An allowance per month for free products in our Sweet shops and online

  • Employee discount in addition to your monthly allowance

  • Square of the month receives additional paid day off

  • Training and development including access to our education courses

  • Access to higher education through funded apprenticeships if applicable
