You will have a strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and an outline working knowledge of VAT. Previous experience in a law firm is highly advantageous and strong communication and organisation skills are a must.

Our Team

Our Finance Service Centre in Leeds is a large team made of up Accounts Payable, Database and Billing, Credit Control and Client and Office Accounts. The team provide centralised support to all the UK offices and ensure they provide a world class service to the firm's internal and external clients.

Our Opportunity

In this role you are ensuring the accurate and timely processing of allocated Office Account and Client Accounts. Reporting to the Cashiers Team Leader, you will work both individually and as part of a team to make sure that the workload is actioned quickly and accurately and a seamless and efficient service is provided to the business.

You will carry out accurate and timely processing of all receipts into and payments out of the firm's client accounts as well as processing bill related office receipts, ensuring compliance with SRA Account rules. You will work closely with the Credit Control team to ensure unidentified cash receipts are allocated without delay.

Other responsibilities include inputting payments via BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, and International Payments via various online banking systems, supporting the management accounting team in posting of journals, and providing management with daily treasury / bank exposure reports. There will also be the opportunities to be involved in project work and support the wider finance team.

You

You must have cashier experience, preferably in a legal environment. Although comprehensive in-house training is provided, it will be beneficial for you to have strong knowledge of Elite and/or Credit Force and also a sound understanding of SRA Account rules and the VAT aspects of legal cashiering.

You must be able to use initiative and work comfortably in a team environment. An appreciation of confidentiality should also be used at all times as you will be dealing with personal and sensitive information. You'll need to have a confident approach as the role can involve making external calls to banks and suppliers to request copy statements and will need to be flexible in your work as ad hoc duties can arise. From time to time, flexibility with hours may be required especially when it comes to month end.

A good standard of undergraduate qualifications (including Maths), or further education would be desirable.
