We are recruiting a proactive PR Specialist who works independently and engages confidently with management, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong communication and strategic collaboration skills.

Our new team member will be responsible for Farnell’s multi-faceted public relations programs, including media relations and executive thought leadership within EMEA.

You will play a key role within the global communications team, serving as a central point of contact for internal stakeholders, including PR and communications counterparts worldwide. The ideal candidate is an experienced communicator who thrives on taking the complex and making it meaningful, engaging, differentiated and relevant in the context of industry trends.

This role is based in Leeds 12 (West Yorkshire) and is a flexible, hybrid-working role, offering a great balance between working from home and the office!

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven in media relations, public relations or corporate communications, ideally in both in-house and agency settings (enterprise technology experience preferred)
  • Good relationships with reporters in the electronics and technology industry throughout Europe
  • Sound judgment and commitment to integrity
  • Strong time and task management, operates with a sense of urgency and values timeliness
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Good collaboration and influencing skills
  • Crisis management skills
  • Ability to coordinate and align feedback from internal stakeholders
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects, working across time zones as needed
  • Experience working on global teams or managing global media relations and industry analyst relations programs is preferred

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead the media relations efforts for Farnell’s EMEA marketing communications in coordination with marketing leadership. Partner with key stakeholders to plan and execute creative PR campaigns to increase awareness of Farnell’s capabilities and brand.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with business, trade and technology press that cover Farnell’s technology and business in EMEA, ranging from electronic components distribution to embedded technology. Interface with global PR counterparts to ensure coordination and message consistency for global activities. Serve as the main contact for external inquiries and route requests appropriately to key business stakeholders in a timely manner. Manage spokesperson roster and media training, including support for executives. Manage ongoing coverage tracking, reporting and analysis.
  • Support key communications initiatives, such as product launches, thought leadership programs and strategic events.
  • Work with senior marketing and communications leaders to manage corporate positioning, messaging and storyline development.
  • Manage agencies and/or contractors as needed.
