Location: Leeds Day Rate: Negotiable (Freelance, Outside IR35/Umbrella PAYE depending on setup) Start Date: ASAP

Linsco are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a civil engineering contractor delivering a technically challenging package of works involving demolition, earthworks, ground remediation, and piling.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic project team on a major enabling and infrastructure scheme in Leeds, with a strong focus on commercial control, procurement, and cost strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take full commercial ownership of the civils package, managing costs and financial efficiency across the project.
  • Handle procurement and subcontractor management, from tendering through to final accounts.
  • Prepare, track, and manage valuations, variations, payment notices, and cost reconciliations.
  • Lead on cost reporting and forecasting, providing detailed updates to the commercial manager and client team.
  • Ensure the works remain within budgetary targets and project timelines.
  • Liaise closely with the site team, PMs, engineers, and subcontractors to support effective delivery.
  • Monitor risk, value management, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with NEC contracts, frameworks, and relevant construction law.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on civils/infrastructure projects, ideally with exposure to demolition, remediation, groundworks, or piling.
  • Strong contractual knowledge (NEC preferred) and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent financial management, procurement, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise in a fast-moving, site-based environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost reporting tools.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

This role is ideal for an experienced QS looking for a hands-on opportunity on a complex civils scheme with real impact.
