Job Summary

We’re looking for a talented Shopify Developer to own and evolve our e-commerce platform. You’ll play a key role in enhancing user experience, optimising performance, and delivering new features that drive revenue and customer engagement.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring thegymking.com website leads from the front with cutting edge, sleek designs as you work closely with the design and marketing team to deliver a best-in-class service. Ensuring customer experience and conversion rate is at the forefront of every decision to maximise business performance.

This role combines development expertise with commercial awareness—you’ll work closely with design, marketing, and trading teams to bring ideas to life at pace.


Responsibilities

With no two days the same, you will find yourself involved in a diverse range of projects and forward-thinking e-commerce solutions.


·       You will work closely with the marketing & web team, maintaining and improving the website with a strong focus on user experience.

·       Build, customise, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

·       Identify & develop new features and functionality to enhance UX and conversion rates

·       You will support the QA function to ensure the highest standard of quality are delivered and address any bugs or improvements that are required.

·       Implement and optimise Shopify apps and third-party integrations

·       Improve site speed, performance, and responsiveness across devices

·       Support A/B testing and CRO initiatives

·       Troubleshoot site issues and bugs, ensuring minimal downtime

·       Implement SEO best practices within Shopify

·       Translate business requirements into technical solutions

·       Support campaign launches, product drops, and seasonal updates

·       Stay up to date with Shopify updates, apps, and emerging technologies

·       Recommend and implement improvements to enhance site functionality

·       Collaborate with external agencies where required

·       Collaborate closely with our graphic designer to ensure seamless design integration across the site.



About you 

  • Min 1 years’ experience in Shopify development
  • Strong proficiency in Shopify API, CLI, and Liquid templating language
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience building stores from scratch and ‘re-skin’ within the Shopify platform.
  • Solid understanding of e-commerce best practices and user behaviour, especially in the retail industry.
  • A strong team worker that is familiar working collaboratively to share ideas, learn and teach new skills to the team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong handle on Shopify design patterns and applying best development practice including version control and QA driven development.
  • Experience working with design tools i.e. the Adobe package would be beneficial.
  • Commercially minded with a passion for e-commerce growth
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills
  • Proactive and solutions-focused mindset

Breadth of experience of E-commerce, within the fashion / retail sector would be an added benefit

Working hours: Due to the nature of this role, the hours will be full time (37.5 hours per week) Monday-Friday, although a flexible approach is required at times to meet the needs of the role.


Location: This role is based at Unit 6 Temple Point, Bullerthorpe Lane, Colton, Leeds LS15 9JL. 2 minutes off the M1 J46. 20 minutes from Leeds station. There may be a requirement to travel as part of this role.
