Legal Billing Assistant - #2111828
Headstar
Most people don't notice great billing until it's wrong.
Behind every successful law firm is a team making sure the numbers add up, the details are accurate, and clients receive a seamless service. It's a role that demands precision, problem-solving and the confidence to deal with people across the business.
If you're the sort of person who enjoys bringing order to complexity and takes genuine satisfaction from getting things right, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
This isn't a transactional billing role where you'll spend every day pressing the same buttons. You'll become the go-to person for billing support, database maintenance and helping legal teams navigate complex client and matter requests. It's varied, fast-paced, and you'll learn something new almost every day.
What you'll be doing:
- Processing bill reversals, credit notes, write-offs and write-downs
- Updating client and matter information
- Managing billing queries and supporting colleagues with more complex requests
- Maintaining agreed client rates and discounts
- Producing audit and data integrity reports
- Supporting quarterly billing processes
- Processing file closures and matter maintenance
- Helping ensure everything is compliant with SRA Accounts Rules and VAT requirements
You'll also work closely with colleagues across multiple offices, so if you enjoy being part of a collaborative team where people genuinely help each other, you'll fit right in.
What we're looking for
- Previous billing or finance administration experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- Confidence communicating with people at all levels
- The ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive approach and willingness to help others
- Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules, VAT and legal finance processes would be an advantage, but isn't essential if you've worked in a similar environment.
What's in it for you?
- An annual salary of up to £31k (depending on experience)
- Hybrid working
- Modern Leeds city centre offices
- Excellent training and development
- Genuine career progression opportunities
- A collaborative culture where your contribution is recognised
- A stable organisation with an outstanding reputation
