Due to continued investment in new machinery and increasing customer demand, the business is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Miller to join its skilled machining team.

Shift: Permanent Afternoons (Monday to Thursday / half shift Friday)
Salary: £48,000

The Role: CNC Miller - 5 Axis
As a key member of the machining team, you will be responsible for the programming, setting, and operation of 5-axis CNC milling centres, producing high-precision components to extremely tight tolerances. You will play a vital role in maintaining quality standards, improving processes, and supporting efficient production as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines with Fanuc control
- Prepare workholding, fixtures, tooling, and materials for production runs
- Conduct first-off inspections and ensure consistent component accuracy
- Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs at the machine (Fanuc) or via CAM systems
- Adjust tool offsets, speeds, feeds, and cutter paths to enhance precision and reduce cycle times
- Resolve programming challenges, including complex multi-axis and multi-face machining
- Select appropriate tooling based on materials and engineering drawings
- Monitor tool wear and maintain optimal surface finishes
- Identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency and tool life
- Carry out in-process and final inspections using micrometers, height gauges, and CMM (where applicable)
- Ensure all components meet drawing specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements
- Complete all required quality and production documentation
- Diagnose and resolve machining issues such as chatter, dimensional deviation, or poor finish
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report faults
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Operate multiple machines where required to maintain workflow efficiency
- Contribute to semi-automated or lights-out machining where appropriate
- Maintain accurate production records and follow established processes
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures when operating high-speed machinery
- Handle coolant, swarf, and tooling safely and responsibly
- Work in line with ISO9001, AS9100, or other relevant quality standards
