General Operative - #2152797

Our client is looking to appoint a proactive General Operative to join a busy manufacturing operation.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of the shop floor. You will work closely with Production, Stores and Supply Chain teams to help ensure materials are available when needed, work areas are kept safe and organised, and general operational activities are completed efficiently.

The role would suit someone who has previous exposure to a manufacturing, production, warehouse or supply chain environment and enjoys being part of a fast-paced, practical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting general production and manufacturing activities across the shop floor.
• Moving, handling and organising materials, components and finished goods.
• Supporting the flow of materials between Stores, Supply Chain and Production.
• Assisting with receiving, checking, storing and issuing materials where required.
• Ensuring production areas are kept clean, tidy and well organised.
• Carrying out general housekeeping duties in line with 5S and good manufacturing practices.
• Removing waste, packaging and redundant materials from production areas.
• Helping maintain clearly designated storage locations and ensuring materials are correctly positioned.
• Supporting stock movements and basic inventory activities.
• Assisting production teams with general operational tasks as required.
• Following all Health & Safety procedures and reporting hazards, damage or unsafe conditions.
• Taking care of company equipment, tools and facilities.
• Working flexibly across the operation to support changing production priorities.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience or exposure to a manufacturing, engineering, production, warehouse or similar industrial environment.
• An understanding of how materials and components flow through a production environment.
• Some exposure to stores, logistics, inventory or supply chain activities.
• A good understanding of workplace housekeeping and the importance of maintaining a safe and organised shop floor.
• A practical, hands-on approach to work.
• Good attention to detail.
• The ability to follow instructions and established processes.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A reliable approach with good attendance and timekeeping.
• A willingness to learn and support different areas of the operation when required.
