Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse or Midwife to join the Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services (MMPS) Nursing Team on a 12-month fixed-term/secondment basis. Working within a well-established Trust-wide team, you will support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of medicines management, patient safety, quality improvement and education initiatives that have a direct impact on patient care across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The role is Trust-wide and offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with ward teams, matrons, senior nurses, pharmacists and other multidisciplinary colleagues to implement and embed improvements in clinical practice.

This is an excellent development opportunity for an individual who is passionate about patient safety, service improvement and staff development. We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have strong communication and presentation skills, an interest in education and training, and the ability to support change and improvement in busy clinical environments.

Why you should join our Team

The Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services (MMPS) Nursing Team is a dynamic, supportive and forward-thinking team that works across Leeds Teaching Hospitals to improve patient safety, medicines management practice and the quality of care delivered to patients. Our team leads and supports a wide range of Trust-wide initiatives, including medicines safety projects, quality improvement programmes, education and training, clinical audits, policy development and the implementation of new ways of working. Working closely with nursing, medical, pharmacy and allied health professional colleagues, we are passionate about making a real difference to both patient and staff experience.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience beyond a traditional clinical setting while maintaining close links with frontline care. You will join a welcoming team that encourages innovation, collaboration and professional development, providing exposure to senior clinical leaders and Trust-wide improvement programmes. Whether you are looking to develop your leadership skills, gain experience in quality improvement and project work, or broaden your understanding of medicines management, this role will provide an excellent platform for future career progression while allowing you to contribute to meaningful improvements across the Trust.

What you will bring to the role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse or Midwife who is keen to develop their skills in project delivery, quality improvement and medicines management. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience working in a clinical environment at Band 5 level or above.

  • An interest in medicines management, patient safety and improving clinical practice.

  • Experience of delivering or supporting education and training for healthcare staff.

  • Knowledge of clinical audit processes and an ability to support service improvement initiatives.

  • Confidence in presenting information and engaging with a range of staff groups.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively to a wider team.

  • Effective IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.

  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting change across clinical services.
