Job Summary
Join our friendly and supportive Gynaecology Outpatient team based in the Chancellor Wing at St James’s University Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Clinical Support Worker (CSW) to join our team on a part-time basis, providing flexible cover predominantly Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend working as required.
You will work across Gynaecology Outpatients, Urogynaecology and Women’s Physiotherapy, supporting the smooth running of clinics and contributing to a safe, positive and compassionate patient experience. There will also be opportunity to support the inpatient ward as required.
This is a varied role where you will develop your clinical skills and work closely with nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and the wider multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include welcoming and supporting patients, preparing clinical rooms, undertaking observations and basic diagnostic tests, supporting phlebotomy and swabbing where trained, maintaining equipment and stock, assisting with patient records and clinic preparation, and escalating any concerns about a patient's condition to the appropriate clinician. You will also play an important role as a chaperone during intimate examinations and procedures, helping to protect privacy, dignity and safety.

You will work alongside nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and the wider multidisciplinary team across Gynaecology Outpatients, Urogynaecology and Women’s Physiotherapy.

You will play an important role in supporting patients through what can sometimes be an anxious or sensitive experience, providing reassurance and compassionate care while helping to maintain their privacy, dignity and safety. From supporting clinical procedures and investigations to preparing clinics and welcoming patients, your contribution will help our services run effectively and ensure patients receive a positive experience.
What you will bring to the role
- Demonstrate a variety of communication skills with patients who may have communication needs and difficulties e.g. confusion, dementia or other linguistic issues
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures regarding confidentiality of data and data security
- Provide and deliver a high standard of compassionate personal care recognising and meeting the specific needs of the patients
- Following training and assessment, competently undertake agreed clinical tasks relevant to the post and clinical area
- Collect equipment for clinical procedures as directed by the registered practitioner. Safely dispose of equipment, post procedure, restocking where appropriate
- Acts as a chaperone as per chaperone policy.
- Undertake duties on different wards, departments or clinical areas as and when required by service demands
