Senior Auditor - #2165493
Headstar
Senior Auditor
£35,000–£40,000 | Leeds | Hybrid Working
Ready for more ownership over your audit work, exposure to quality clients and the opportunity to develop within a supportive practice?
We're working with an award-winning, independent accountancy practice in Leeds that's looking to recruit a Senior Auditor to join its friendly and down-to-earth team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified auditor who enjoys staying hands-on, taking responsibility for assignments from start to finish and continuing to develop technically, without the expectation of routinely working long hours.
Why join?
- Award-winning firm: Join an established independent practice with a varied, high-quality client portfolio.
- A genuine learning culture: Work in an environment that values development, knowledge-sharing and helping people progress.
- Quality client exposure: Work with a diverse range of businesses, from £10m to £300m in turnover, including a strong Leeds city-centre portfolio.
- Work-life balance: Little to no overtime, with occasional additional hours when needed.
- Flexible working: Hybrid working and flexible start and finish times around core hours of 10am–4pm.
- Great benefits: 25 days' annual leave, your birthday off, bank holidays, free on-site gym, pension and death-in-service cover.
- Supportive environment: A friendly, approachable team where you can take ownership of your work without losing the support of your colleagues.
The role
You'll take responsibility for larger audit assignments from start to finish, playing a key role in delivering high-quality work across a varied client portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing audit assignments for larger clients from planning through to completion.
- Taking ownership of audit files and ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
- Preparing statutory accounts.
- Drafting tax computations.
- Working across a varied portfolio of clients, including businesses with turnovers ranging from approximately £10m to £300m.
- Contributing to a collaborative team environment and continuing to develop your technical expertise.
The role is predominantly audit-focused, with approximately 80% of your time spent on audit and 20% on accounts.
This would suit someone who enjoys the technical and practical side of audit and wants to remain involved in the work itself, rather than move into a purely managerial position at this stage.
What are they looking for?
- Experience working within an accountancy practice, ideally an independent firm.
- A professionally qualified accountant, ideally ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Strong audit experience, including responsibility for managing assignments.
- Experience preparing accounts and drafting tax computations.
- The ability to manage larger audit files from start to finish.
- A hands-on approach, good attention to detail and a collaborative working style.
The benefits
- Salary of £35,000–£40,000.
- Hybrid working.
- Flexible working hours, with core hours of 10am–4pm.
- 25 days' holiday, plus bank holidays and your birthday off.
- 3% employer pension contribution after three months.
- Death-in-service cover of four times salary after 12 months.
- Employee Assistance Programme, including some health-related benefits.
- Free on-site gym.
- A friendly, supportive working environment with a strong emphasis on learning and development.
If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership of your work, develop your career and enjoy a better balance outside the office, this is well worth exploring.
