About ASD Ltd

At ASD, we're one of the UK's leading metal stockholders and processing specialists, supplying high-quality steel and metal products to customers across a wide range of industries.

But we're more than a supplier. We're a business built on expertise, innovation and long-term partnerships, helping our customers succeed while driving positive change for our colleagues, communities and the environment.

If you're motivated by leading a team, building relationships, delivering outstanding customer service and growing sales, this is an opportunity to make your mark with a market leader.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a commercially driven Sales Manager to lead and develop the Internal and External Sales teams at our Leeds site.

This hands-on leadership role combines team management with personal responsibility for developing customer relationships, winning new business and growing existing accounts. You will play a key role in driving sales performance, improving margins and delivering sustainable, profitable growth.

Working closely with the Director of Sales and colleagues across Operations, Transport and Finance, you will bring the sales function together, establish clear priorities and create a proactive, customer-focused culture where individuals are supported and held accountable.

This is an office-based role at our Leeds site (LS10 1SD), Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead, motivate and develop the Internal and External Sales teams, setting objectives and driving performance against sales, margin and new business targets.

  • Identify new customers, win new business and develop existing accounts.

  • Build strong relationships with key customers, personally managing selected accounts and supporting strategic opportunities.

  • Develop sales plans to increase revenue, improve profitability and maximise customer potential.

  • Monitor sales performance, margins and pipeline activity, identifying opportunities and addressing under performance.

  • Oversee pricing, quotations and discounting to balance customer needs and profitability.

  • Work with colleagues across the business to understand customer requirements and ensure commitments are delivered.

  • Take ownership of significant customer issues, resolving concerns professionally and maintaining relationships.

  • Coach, provide feedback and conduct performance reviews to develop the team's skills and effectiveness.

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, reports and customer information using CRM and other systems.

What We Are Looking For

Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven experience in sales management, senior sales or a commercial role within a business-to-business environment.

  • Experience in the steel, metals, industrial, manufacturing or distribution sectors.

  • Experience leading, coaching or developing a sales team, with an understanding of how Internal and External Sales work together.

  • A track record of achieving sales targets, winning new business and growing customer accounts.

  • Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margin management, negotiation and profitability.

  • Experience managing key customer relationships and identifying sales opportunities.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage with customers and colleagues at all levels.

  • The ability to analyse performance, develop action plans and hold yourself and others accountable.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance team leadership with hands-on sales activity.

  • Confidence using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and sales reporting tools.

What's In It For You?

We recognise that great people make great businesses. In return, you'll receive a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Company car allowance of £6,262 per annum (from day one) or a company car after successful completion of probation.

  • Quarterly bonus (up to 20% per annum).

  • Life assurance.

  • Contributory pension scheme (5% employee contribution matched by ASD).

  • Retail and restaurant discounts.

  • Gym and health club discounts.

  • Holiday Trading Scheme.

  • Cycle to Work scheme.

  • Medicash healthcare plan.

  • Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Financial well being support.

Safety Comes First

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. All employees are subject to pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing as part of our commitment to a safe working environment. ASD operates a zero-tolerance policy.
