Lead our technology and information strategy as North Bay Group continues to grow
North Bay Group is a growing residential care group operating over 100 care homes across the North of England and the Midlands. With ambitious plans for further growth through acquisitions and the development of new homes, we are looking for an experienced and forward thinking Head of IT and Information to play a key role in shaping our future.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will lead the development and delivery of our IT and information strategy, ensuring our technology, data and systems support the delivery of safe, high-quality care and the continued growth of the business.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic IT leader who can combine strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, effective leadership and the ability to influence at Executive and Board level.
About the role
You will oversee our in-house IT team of three, alongside a range of third-party technology providers and managed service partners. Your focus will be on ensuring our systems are secure, effective, integrated and fit for the future, while enabling our operational teams to work efficiently across a large, multi-site organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering an IT and information strategy aligned with the Group’s operational, financial and growth objectives.
- Leading our cyber security strategy, managing information risk and ensuring appropriate security controls and incident response arrangements are in place.
- Overseeing data management, information governance and compliance with UK GDPR and relevant security standards.
- Driving the integration and effective use of core business systems, including digital care records, medication management, HR, payroll, finance and rostering.
- Managing relationships with software vendors, managed service providers and other technology partners, ensuring value for money and high standards of service.
- Leading, developing and motivating the in-house IT team, providing clear priorities and direction.
- Supporting IT planning and implementation for new care homes and acquisitions, including systems integration and data migration.
- Managing IT budgets, investment plans, business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements.
- Providing clear advice and assurance to the Executive Team and Board on technology, data and information security.
About you
We are looking for someone who can think strategically, build strong relationships and turn complex technology challenges into practical business solutions.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience managing IT or information services within a multi-site organisation, with the capability to step into a Head of IT-level position.
- A strong understanding of cyber security, information governance, data management and systems integration.
- Experience delivering IT and data projects, managing third-party suppliers and overseeing an in-house team.
- Knowledge of UK GDPR and cyber security frameworks, with experience managing security incidents and information risk.
- Commercial awareness, including budget management, supplier negotiations and contract performance.
- The ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical colleagues and influence senior stakeholders.
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experience within health and social care, or another regulated, 24/7 environment, would be advantageous. Knowledge of digital social care records, eMAR, DSPT, Cyber Essentials Plus and systems integration following acquisitions would also be beneficial.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between our offices and care homes are essential.
An enhanced DBS check will also be required.
Why join North Bay Group?
This is an opportunity to make a real impact within a growing organisation, shaping the technology and information foundations that support more than 100 care homes and the teams who work within them.
You will have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, develop our systems and processes, build the capability of our IT team and help ensure our technology keeps pace with our ambitious growth plans.
