Senior Silicon Photonics Engineer - #2180390

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Silicon Photonics Engineer to take technical ownership of the WDM architecture for a multi-wavelength, high-speed silicon photonics and integrated photonics compute platform, working from architecture and simulation through to foundry tape-out and first-silicon validation.

As a Senior Silicon Photonics Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Own the WDM architecture, wavelength plan, channel spacing and optical power budget
• Design and optimise AWGs, micro-rings, filters and multiplexers
• Develop silicon photonic circuits for high-speed optical links
• Model loss, crosstalk, dispersion, thermal drift and manufacturing variation
• Integrate modulators, detectors, multiplexers, monitors and thermal control structures
• Own foundry design reviews, PDK compliance, tape-out sign-off and silicon debug
• Analyse first-silicon results and feed findings into future designs
• Collaborate across PIC, analogue, layout, packaging and test teams

To be successful as a Senior Silicon Photonics Engineer, your background and experience will include:

• MSc or PhD in Photonics, Electronic Engineering, Physics or similar
• Strong silicon photonics / PIC design experience
• Successful PIC tape-outs and experience with foundry PDKs
• Strong knowledge of WDM, AWGs and resonant photonic devices
• Experience with photonic simulation and layout verification
• Understanding of fabrication tolerances, thermal effects and yield

Experience with CW-WDM, high-speed optical links, Lumerical, Cadence, Python or MATLAB would be particularly valuable.
