Assistant Accountant - #2184726

Sharp Consultancy are recruiting for a well-established Leeds-based organisation with a turnover of approximately £16 million. Due to a period of change, they are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their close-knit finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Working within a small team and reporting into the Finance Director, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function while also assisting with reporting, analysis and audit requirements. This position offers excellent exposure across both transactional and management accounting duties.

Following an initial training period, the business operates a hybrid working arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the month-end close process, including accruals and prepayments
• Producing and monitoring cash flow forecasts
• Conducting margin analysis and profitability reporting
• Posting, coding and processing purchase invoices
• Maintaining company credit card expenditure records and reconciliations
• Producing ad-hoc sales analysis and commercial reporting
• Running financial reports from NetSuite and consolidating data into Excel
• Analysing business performance and identifying trends
• Supporting audit requests, including providing invoice documentation and evidence
• Assisting the Finance Director with a variety of reporting and finance projects
• Ensuring accurate financial records and controls are maintained

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or Management Accounts support role
• Experience preparing accruals and prepayments
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
• Experience using ERP systems, ideally NetSuite
• The ability to analyse and interpret financial data
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting a small finance team
• Experience with Power BI would be advantageous but is not essential.
