Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Salary: £30,000–£35,000 + 18% Shift Allowance (£35,400–£41,300) + Overtime

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

White Label Recruitment is working with a well-established global engineering manufacturer with over 140 years of industry experience, looking to recruit a Technical Support Engineer to join its Leeds-based team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Graduate, Junior Automation Engineer or Electrical Engineer with some knowledge of PLCs and control systems who is looking to develop their technical skills within a supportive engineering environment.

The company designs, manufactures and services specialist industrial equipment, with operations across the UK, Europe and Australia.

Graduates are strongly encouraged to apply, and full training on the company's specialist equipment will be provided.

The Role

Working within an experienced technical support team, you'll help customers and field service engineers diagnose and resolve technical issues relating to specialist industrial machinery.

The position is predominantly office-based, with some hybrid working opportunities and occasional site visits.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical support to customers and field engineers via telephone, email and remote access.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting PLC, electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Investigating control systems and identifying solutions to technical problems.
  • Using PLC software and system data to assist with fault finding.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Supporting field engineers with equipment breakdowns and technical queries.
  • Investigating equipment performance and assisting with technical improvement projects.
  • Working closely with colleagues across engineering, service and other departments.

Approximately 60–65% of technical issues are resolved remotely, providing excellent exposure to a wide variety of engineering problems.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates with a qualification or experience in one of the following areas:

  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Robotics Engineering
  • Automation / Control Systems Engineering
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Electrical Maintenance or Field Service Engineering

The key requirement is a basic understanding of PLCs and control systems, which could have been gained through university projects, an apprenticeship or previous employment.

Experience with Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen-Bradley or other PLC systems would be beneficial, although specific Mitsubishi experience is not essential.

Previous technical support experience is not required.

We're looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, communicates confidently and is enthusiastic about learning. You'll be joining a friendly team where a positive attitude, teamwork and willingness to develop are highly valued.

Salary & Benefits
  • £30,000–£35,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
  • 18% non-contractual shift allowance, taking annual earnings to £35,400–£41,300 before overtime.
  • Saturday overtime paid at 1.5x and Sunday overtime at 2x.
  • 24 days' annual leave plus an additional day off for your birthday.
  • Company pension with employer contributions matched up to 5%.
  • Healthcare cash plan, including dental and optical benefits.
  • Hybrid working opportunities.
  • Full product training and ongoing technical development.
  • Long-term career progression within an established international engineering business.
Working Hours

Monday to Friday, rotating between the following shifts:

  • 6:00am–2:30pm
  • 8:30am–5:00pm
  • 2:00pm–10:30pm

There is also a shared weekend rota (but not essential), approximately once every 4–6 weeks, with enhanced overtime payments.

Why Apply?

This is a great opportunity to build a career in technical engineering, gaining hands-on exposure to PLCs, automation systems and specialist industrial equipment.

You'll receive training from an experienced team and have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while working for a successful global engineering manufacturer.
