As a Junior Developer at MQube, you will be crucial in developing and enhancing our software products. We're looking for individuals genuinely interested in computers, engineering, and building products that people love. Your passion, drive to solve problems, and ability to think critically are more important to us than your specific programming skills.


Job Role Accountabilities



  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and help translate these into technical requirements for other team members.

  • Identify and develop solutions to system problems and test their suitability


Examples of Key Activities



  • Collaborate with senior engineers and product managers to understand project requirements and objectives

  • Participate in the design, development, and testing of software products using languages such as Go, C#, Java, TypeScript, or other relevant languages.

  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in your chosen language.

  • Contribute to product feature brainstorming and creativity.

  • Assist in optimizing and fine-tuning software applications for performance.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies through research.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues.

  • Provide support for product deployment and post-launch activities.

Qualification, Skills, Knowledge and Experience


Essential


A Level or equivalent in Computer Science


Minimum C-grade in both English and mathematics


Desirable


Any STEM subjects


Skills and Knowledge



  • A genuine interest in computers, engineering, and building products that people love.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a passion for solving complex challenges.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and concepts.

  • High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Minimum of a C-grade in both English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications. Higher grades are preferred.


Additional Skills (Preferred)



  • Familiarity with software development tools and frameworks in your chosen language.

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

  • Understanding of user experience (UX) principles.

  • Experience with web development, mobile app development, or other software domains.

Education Opportunity


We are excited to offer our Junior Developers the opportunity to further their education and skills through a Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions apprenticeship. This apprenticeship program will be conducted in partnership with either Leeds Beckett University or Sheffield Hallam University, providing you with valuable academic and practical experience.
