Credit Controller - #2163504
Headstar
Nobody gets into Credit Control because they love sending their seventh email asking someone to pay an invoice from three months ago. But there's something quite satisfying about getting money in that everyone else had quietly given up on.
This business isn’t looking for someone to spend eight hours a day firing out automated reminders and hoping for the best, they need someone who can actually collect money.
Someone who knows when to pick up the phone, when to push back, when to escalate and, perhaps most importantly, how to get an invoice paid without making an enemy for life.
What’s the role:
You'll be looking after your own portfolio of accounts, keeping on top of outstanding debt and making sure cash comes into the business when it's supposed to.
Naturally, there'll be the usual chasing, reconciliations, invoice disputes and conversations with customers who are apparently just about to make that payment.
You'll also work closely with people across the business, including senior stakeholders, to untangle issues that are holding things up, because sometimes getting an invoice paid has less to do with chasing the customer and more to do with finding out what's gone wrong internally.
You’ll also be:
- Managing outstanding debt and keeping debtor days under control.
- Chasing overdue payments by phone and email.
- Investigating invoice queries and resolving disputes.
- Building relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Spotting potential payment problems before they become bigger ones.
- Managing customer portals, reconciliations and credit notes.
- Keeping accurate records and contributing to cash collection targets.
Who'll do well here?
Someone who's been around the Credit Control block a few times.
You'll have experience managing a busy ledger, understand debtor days and cash collection targets, and be reasonably handy with Excel and credit management systems.
You need to be persistent without being a pain, organised without being robotic and confident enough to have the occasional awkward conversation.
You'll also need a decent sense of humour. It helps when someone tells you, for the fourth Friday running, that the person who authorises payments is on holiday.
What’s in it for you?
- An annual salary of up to £30k (depending on experience)
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Hybrid working (2 days working from home)
- Internal career development opportunities
- The opportunity to work for a global business with plenty going on
